The short version: the client and job data you enter into TradePace stays on your own phone. It isn't uploaded to, or stored on, any Northern Light server. The only things that leave your phone are a receipt you choose to scan (sent to Google to read the prices) and your subscription status (handled by RevenueCat and your app store).
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains what data TradePace collects, where it's stored, and who else sees it. TradePace is built to keep your business data on your own device wherever possible.
2. Data you enter into the app
Client names, phone numbers, email addresses, site addresses, job details, site-visit notes and photos, quotes, invoices, saved customers, receipts, and your own business details (rates, bank details, logo, signature) are stored locally on your device, in the app's own local database. This data is not uploaded to, or stored on, any Northern Light server — we don't have a copy of it and can't see it.
Because this data lives only on your device, uninstalling the app or clearing its data permanently deletes it. There's no cloud backup built into TradePace at this time, so it's worth keeping your own backups of anything important (e.g. exported quote/invoice PDFs).
When you share or email a quote or invoice, TradePace hands the PDF to the app you choose (your email app, messaging app, etc.). What happens to it from there is covered by that app's own privacy terms.
For your clients' details, you are in charge of that information (under UK data protection law you are the "controller" of it). Only enter what you need to quote and invoice the job, and keep it up to date.
3. Receipt scanning (Google Gemini)
If you use receipt scanning, the receipt photo you take (or the text of a PDF receipt you choose) is sent to Google's Gemini API to read the supplier, items and prices. Only the receipt itself is sent — no client details, jobs, quotes or business details go with it. Like any internet request, Google also receives basic technical details such as your IP address.
Google processes the receipt to send the result back. Under Google's terms for UK developers, Google doesn't use it to train or improve its products, and may keep it for a limited time only to detect misuse and meet legal requirements. Google's own privacy terms apply to that processing.
The scanned receipt and its figures are saved on your device only. Northern Light never receives a copy. Avoid photographing anything other than the receipt (for example, other people's personal details).
4. Subscription and purchase data
Subscription status (e.g. whether you're on a free trial or TradePace Pro) is managed through RevenueCat and your app store account (Apple App Store or Google Play). RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID created by the app, your purchase and subscription details, and basic device information, to make subscriptions work. It does not receive your client data or the business details you enter elsewhere in the app. Payment itself is handled entirely by your app store; TradePace never sees your card details.
5. What we don't collect
TradePace doesn't run analytics or advertising tracking, and doesn't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
If you email us for support, we use your email and what you send only to reply and to improve the app, and delete it when it's no longer needed.
6. This website and the enquiry form
This website is hosted by Netlify. Like any website host, Netlify processes basic technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the pages and keep the site secure.
If you send a message using the enquiry form, Netlify stores what you enter (your name, email address, phone type and message) and forwards it to us by email. We use it only to reply to you and to improve TradePace, and delete it when it's no longer needed.
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and its fonts are served from the site itself rather than from a third party.
7. Your rights
Since your business and client data is stored locally on your own device rather than on a Northern Light server, you're already in direct control of it — you can view, edit, or delete any of it inside the app, or remove all of it by uninstalling TradePace. For data held by our processors (Google, for a scanned receipt; RevenueCat, for subscription records), their own privacy policies explain your rights with them.
If you're unhappy with how your data is handled, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
8. Children's privacy
TradePace is a business tool intended for tradespeople and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make a significant change to how TradePace handles data, you'll be asked to review and accept the updated policy the next time you open the app.
